Department of Water Resources awards millions to Fresno, Reedley and Orange Cove
The state Department of Water Resources has awarded more than $2 million for a San Joaquin Valley project to benefit Fresno, Reedley and Orange Cove.
The project aims to reduce outdoor water use in disadvantaged communities by replacing water-thirsty lawns with drought-tolerant landscapes.
Orange Cove also will receive $280,000 for its proposed 2014 Orange Cove Water Energy Efficiency Program.
The program will offer rebates to replace old toilets, shower heads and bathroom faucets with low-flow toilets, showerheads and bathroom faucets.
Additionally, the program will repair or replace leaking kitchen sink faucets in residential units.
