Fresno cooling centers and pools to open Thursday
Fresno cooling centers will open Thursday as a new wave of summertime heat arrives.
The National Weather Service in Hanford forecasts a high of 105 degrees for Fresno on Thursday.
In addition to cooling centers, several city pools will be open to the public for free use from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
FAX will providefree transportation to and from centers. Residents need to indicate that they are heading to a cooling center to ride for free.
The forecast also calls for a high of 105 degrees on Friday. But the city will hold off deciding whether the centers and pools will be open that day until a new forecast comes out Thursday.
