Driver dies when pickup hits power pole on Fresno-Tulare county line

The driver of a pickup truck died in a fiery crash after the tuck hit a power pole and caught fire northeast of Dinuba, the CHP said.

The solo collision occurred on the Fresno County-Tulare County line Tuesday morning, the CHP said.

The truck was heading south on Porter Road in Fresno County, known as Road 92 in Tulare County, when for unknown reasons he failed to stop at the stop sign at the corner of Road 92 and Avenue 432, known as Floral Road in Fresno County, the CHP said.

It’s unknown how fast he was driving but he apparently lost control of the truck and hit a PG&E steel power pole, causing the truck to catch fire.

No one witnessed the crash, but a passerby called 911 at 10:39 a.m. to say the truck was on fire, the CHP said. A fire crew arrived, put out the fire and removed the body.

The Tulare County Coroner was called to the scene. The driver’s name has not been made public.
