Rather than make a decision Thursday about a proposal to stage a two-day music festival in Woodward Park, the Fresno City Council instead continued the hearing for two weeks.

The council voted 5-2, with council President Esmeralda Soria and Councilman Paul Caprioglio against, to continue the hearing.

A subcommittee will now be formed, consisting of Councilmen Garry Bredefeld, Clint Olivier and Luis Chavez, to meet with the Grizzly Fest promoters and city staff to “find some sort of solution that’s good for both sides.”

At issue is the noise and traffic that the festival might generate. Grizzly Fest promoters say that the event will feature rapper Snoop Dog and offer big-name entertainment to the local market.
