Clovis man wins Central Valley St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway
A 52-year-old Clovis man with five children was announced Sunday night as the winner of the Central Valley St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, said Paula De Young of De Young Properties.
Brian Martin and his family won’t have far to move: Their prize, a five-bedroom home with an estimated value of $425,000, is in the De Young CountrySide community on Armstrong Avenue in Clovis.
Martin said he works for Fresno County and his wife, Traci, 50, is an instructional aide for Clovis Unified School District. “The house is gorgeous. De Young Properties, all the builders, and everybody that donated did a wonderful job,” he said.
The Martins have been buying tickets for the giveaway each year for the past several years to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, De Young said.
Martin’s name was drawn just before 7 p.m. in the KMPH (Channel 26.1) studios in Fresno, as were the names of other prize winners. Other prizes included a cruise to Mexico for two, gas for one year valued at $5,000, an Electrolux frontload washer and dryer, a $10,000 shopping spree to Ashley Furniture HomeStore, and several $1,000 gift cards and gift certificates.
Ticket sales and donations added up to $1,075,100, the most money raised in the event’s 11-year history, De Young said. In the 11 years of Dream Home drawings in the Valley, the event has raised more than $10 million.
