Recent Atascadero High graduate killed in crash when SUV broadsided by big rig

A 2016 Atascadero High School graduate was killed and her older sister was critically injured when the Chevrolet Tahoe they were in collided with a big rig Tuesday on Highway 198 near Interstate 5, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The women, both standout runners at Atascadero High, were identified as Brittni Frace, 20, who died in the crash and Brynn Frace, who was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center. The Tribune of San Luis Obispo reported that the sisters were headed back to school at Chico State University after competing in a race Sunday in Phoenix.

The crash took place about 10 a.m. The CHP said the SUV driver, believed to be Brynn Frace, was heading west toward the interchange when she pulled out from a gas station into the path of a westbound 2014 Peterbilt driven by Terry Lee Keeling, 52, of Exeter, the CHP said. Keeling wasn’t hurt.

Both sisters were wearing seatbelts, the CHP said.
