Fire erupts for the 4th time in a supposedly vacant central Fresno apartment

A fire erupted for the fourth time in a year at a supposedly vacant central Fresno apartment Sunday morning, said Battalion Chief Brian Price with the Fresno Fire Department.

Around 9:25 a.m. firefighters were called to an apartment fire at 3307 East Clay Avenue. Firefighters found a boarded up apartment with flames causing significant damage to the inside.

According to Price, a large amount of the damage that can be seen on the outside of the building was caused from the previous fires at the building.

Price said people were squatting in the structure but were able to get out with no injuries reported.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fresno firefighters will follow up and make sure the building is secure, Price said, to try and prevent more incidents.
