Clovis brings back Big Wins Day to promote local business

Big Wins Day, a Christmas season business promotion effort by the city of Clovis, Clovis Chamber of Commerce, the Business Organization of Old Town and local merchants, will take place Wednesday at Sierra Vista Mall.

The program kicked off in 2008 and 2009, but has since been absent. The idea is to inject an additional $1 million into the city’s economy in one 24-hour period.

Big Wins Day encourages citizens to shop in Clovis on Wednesday by making high-quality prizes available. For every $10 spent at retailers, grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants, customers will receive one ticket toward a chance to win drawings.

The prizes include flat-screen televisions, gas grills, a washer and dryer set, dinners and movie passes. In addition to the drawing, anyone who saved the mandated 36 percent on their Clovis water use over the summer will be entered into a separate drawing featuring three complete grass replacements from SYNLAWN. It will include removal of old turf, all materials and labor.

To participate, customers must bring their receipts for purchases made Wednesday to Sierra Vista Mall’s center court redemption site, and they will receive tickets based on the total dollar amount of their purchases.

City representatives will pass out the tickets and answer questions from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A drawing with prizes to be given away will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Sierra Vista Mall’s Community Park. Winners must be present at the event.
