It’s pizza! It’s a hot dog! It’s Fresno Grizzlies’ new Frankenslice
The creative people behind the Fresno Grizzlies have a new edible concoction: The Frankenslice.
It’s a slice of pizza with a hot dog rolled into the crust.
“It’s a frank in a slice,” says Grizzlies marketing “ninja” Sam Hansen, whose brain dreamed up the invention, following last year’s bacon wrapped Grizzly Egg.
The $7 Frankenslice debuts Thursday, May 21, during the Grizzlies’ “Halfway to Halloween” promo that includes a haunted house. A limited number will be available that day and if there’s enough demand, it will be back Saturday.
“You can eat it however you want,” Hansen says. “But the idea is you eat the slice of pizza and when you’re done with the pizza, you put ketchup and mustard on the crust and you eat the hot dog. It’s a combo meal in every slice.”
Lab assistant Justin Dukes makes the Frankenslice, baking the whole shebang in a smoker so both the pizza and the hot dog have a smoky taste.
Dukes, who used to own the restaurant Dukes Downtown, runs a concession stand and a cart at Chukchansi Stadium.
The Frankenslice is available at concession stand 1 closest to the Tecate Cantina.
