Netflix Casts New 'Little House on the Prairie' Characters for Season 2
Although Season 1 of the Netflix adaptation of Little House on the Prairie has yet to air, the series—which has already been renewed for a second season—has begun casting for upcoming roles. While fans await heading to the prairie with Laura, Mary, Caroline and Charles, the showrunners are working hard on Season 2.

Charlotte Sullivan as Margaret Oleson
Charlotte Sullivan is set to portray Margaret Oleson, the mother of Nellie Oleson, in Season 2 of Little House. Margaret is described as “beautiful, high-energy, charming, and unfiltered with a quick wit and a tendency toward gallows humor.” The character is said to deeply love her daughter, but she fears losing that love.
The character, who was actually named Harriet Oleson (Katherine MacGregor) in the original series, had a name change for the new series. The new name is more historically accurate, as the real person was named Margaret Owens, the mother of Nellie Owens.
Sullivan previously starred in Rookie Blue (2010-2015) and has appeared in several shows including Blue Bloods (2013), Chicago Fire (2016-2017) and FBI (2024).
Willa Dunn as Nellie Oleson
The actress set to bring the character of Nellie Oleson to life is Willa Dunn. Although Nellie is a fictional character, created to represent three separate people—Nellie Owens, Genevieve Masters and Stella Gilbert—the new series is bringing Nellie Oleson back. Laura Ingalls Wilder combined the traits and personalities of these three girls and created Nellie Oleson in her books for dramatic effect.
Nellie is described as a spoiled princess and bully with a sharp tongue and lots of confidence, but her most important role is as the enemy of Laura Ingalls. Dunn has previously appeared in Only Murders in the Building (2023), You’re Not There (2024) and The Runarounds (2025).
Rachelle Lefevre as Miss Eva Beadle
You may remember Charlotte Stewart’s portrayal of Miss Eva Beadle in the 1970s version of Little House, but a new face is ready to fill the character’s shoes. Actress Rachelle Lefevre has been cast as the schoolteacher of Walnut Grove, whom both Laura and Mary Ingalls grow fond of.
Although Miss Beadle is a fictional character created as a compilation of the Ingalls girls’ real-life teachers for the original series, the new adaptation is bringing the character back. Miss Beadle is described as “open-minded, passionate, forthright, brave, well-educated, well-read, adventurous, generous of spirit and a world-traveler.”
Lefevre has previously appeared in Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), Barney’s Version (2010) and White House Down (2013).
