One of Orange County's best bakeries is adding more days and hours
Great news for Orange County viennoiserie fans: Diotima Bakehouse, widely regarded as one of Orange County’s best bakeries, is expanding its days and hours.
After three and a half years, Kian Moltaji’s bakery will be open five consecutive days a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Diotima will open earlier Wednesday through Friday at 8 a.m., while weekend service will begin at 10 a.m.
Moltaji announced the expanded days and hours on his Instagram, saying, “‘The most common question I’ve gotten in the past three and a half years is, ‘Why do you open so late, and why don’t you open more days?’”
Diotima began as a sought-after online pastry outfit before opening a brick-and-mortar shop in Mission Viejo in 2023. The bakery has built a devoted following for its laminated pastries, seasonal offerings and Moltaji’s meticulous approach to baking, drawing customers from across the region via word of mouth and his popular Instagram and TikTok channels.
After learning his craft at the Parisian culinary school École Ferrandi, followed by a as stint as a personal chef, Moltaj opened DIotima. The bakery’s offerings, all prepared in-house, include croissants, pan au chocolat, kouign-amanns, canelés, cinnamon rolls, brioche, seasonal selections of cakes and pies, tarts and more.
The menu at Diotima (named after a Greek figure in Plato's "Symposium”; Moltaji received a degree in philosophy from UCLA before moving into the culinary world) often changes, so be sure to follow @kianthechef to see what’s new or available that day.
