These Pregnant Frenchies Enjoy One Last Sunset Before the Chaos Begins
Dog or not, the final weeks before giving birth mean it's time to slow down and rest. While resting and dogs might seem far-fetched, it's exactly what pregnant pups need before the chaos of giving birth and having a litter of puppies.
To give them the best possible "maternity leave" possible, Jerzey Frenchies gave their two pregnant French bulldogs a relaxing afternoon just before the baby countdown began. Enjoying the beach air, these two Frenchies are enjoying the last moments of quiet before the madness of newborn pups takes over.

With just a little time to go before the expected arrival of two litters of French bulldog puppies, these pregnant Frenchies are soaking in the calm. Lounging at the beach and listening to the waves, there's no better way to get in some relaxation before the puppies are born.
Smiling from ear to ear, we can't imagine these Frenchies are too upset at this short maternity leave. According to their human, "Both of my girls are pregnant, so I thought I'd bring them to the beach for some well-deserved relaxation. My heart is just so full listening to the waves and watching my girls enjoy the ocean breeze. Beyond grateful for this beautiful journey and the privilege of bringing these next generations into the world. The puppy countdown is officially ON for next week!"
How exciting!

What to Know About French Bulldog Pregnancies
For these Frenchies, relaxation is all part of the pregnancy process. This breed tends to have an average pregnancy cycle of 63 days, and it's quite the journey.
Because of their build, natural birth in Frenchies is highly dangerous. Most litters require a C-section because of the French bulldog's narrow hips and flat-faced body structure. Once pregnant Frenchies reach 55 days, X-rays can confirm the number of puppies to expect in the litter.
The Frenchie pregnancy process tends to follow traditional pregnancy stages, just in a shorter timespan. Starting with mild morning sickness in the first three weeks, abdominal swelling doesn't appear until the third week. Weeks four to six are when the puppies' heartbeats can typically be heard, and the mammary glands will swell. After week eight, the nesting period begins as the Frenchie prepares for delivery.
While the birth countdown is on, we are sure glad these Frenchies get to soak up some calm before the storm.
