Australian Shepherd Backing That Booty up Has Everyone Cracking Up
You think you're about to watch a normal dog daycare clip… and then within 2 seconds, you realize this is not that.
Because Blu isn't just walking around. Blu has a goal, a strategy, and a very specific plan that involves backing it up with full confidence.
@24hddsd Blu is always looking for some booty scratches #dogsoftiktok#doggydaycare#24hddsd
Back That Azz Up - Juvenile
TikTok user @24hddsd shared a clip of an Australian Shepherd named Blu at daycare, and instead of greeting people the normal way, Blu slowly backs up toward them like this is a rehearsed routine.
Not shy. Not subtle. Just direct eye contact and reverse motion until the mission is complete.
And the mission, clearly, is booty rubs. This is the kind of behavior that would absolutely work on me every single time.

Viewers Were Immediately on the Same Page:
• "Don't be scared of it, baby, be aware of it."
• "Me when my husband comes home from work."
• "It's an Aussie thing."
• "Straight eye contact."
• "Get Blu to the club now."
• "Dog said, ‘Why are you moving? It's too much for you?'"
• "‘Well, it's not gonna scratch itself' - Blu, probably."
• "I have three Aussies, and I'm greeted by dog butts all day."
And honestly, that last one feels like important context.
Because this doesn't feel like a one-off. This feels like a personality trait.
My Maine Coon, Meatball, demands attention in his own dramatic way (by jumping on me like I'm a piece of furniture), but even he hasn't committed to a full reverse approach like this. Blu is operating on a completely different level.
Why Australian Shepherds Are… Like This
@ambersaussies Think an Aussie is for you?? Use this checklist to find out You enjoy being active and getting outdoors for more than just a walk around the block. Aussies typically need at least one hour of dedicated exercise per day combined with mental enrichment. You are open to or interested in training your dog. Aussies are very prone to developing neurotic behaviors like herding, nipping, barking, reactivity, and anxiety if they are not given structure and basic training ground rules. You are okay with having a personal shadow follow your every footstep. If you're an independent person that doesn't like your personal space being invaded, an Aussie may not be the best fit for you You don't mind cleaning up lots of hair and brushing them regularly. Aussies typically have a thick double coat that sheds year-round. Brushing a couple times a week and getting them professionally groomed once every 6-8 weeks is pertinent to reducing shedding and preventing them from getting matted (and having to be shaved!!) Bottom line, Australian Shepherds can be AMAZING dogs. They can be great family dogs that develop an incredible bond with their person. But, like any other breed, they can develop behavioral issues if their mental and physical needs are not met. They are 𝐧𝐨𝐭 a breed to get just because they look pretty and you see them everywhere. They are a working breed designed to herd 1000lb cattle, so be prepared to fulfill their genetic needs with exercise, training, and enrichment! Lil Boo Thang - Paul Russell
If you've ever met an Australian Shepherd, none of this is surprising.
• They're incredibly people-focused dogs who love interaction.
• Physical contact is basically their love language.
• They're smart enough to figure out exactly what works.
• Once something works, they will repeat it forever.
• They are not shy about getting your attention.
• Subtlety is not part of the personality profile.
So yes, backing up into someone with purpose?
That tracks.
The Science of the 'Booty Backup'
This isn't random behavior. This is a system.
• Dog identifies human with available hands
• Dog establishes eye contact to confirm engagement
• Dog initiates reverse maneuver
• Dog holds position until scratches are delivered
• Dog refuses to move until expectations are met
It's efficient. It's bold. It works.
And honestly, once you see it… you kind of respect it.
