'Velcro' Pit Bull Bursts in on Mom-and What She Does Next Is So Polite
If you've never adopted a dog under the "Pit Bull" umbrella, you may not be familiar with the one universal trait they all seem to have. Call them clingy, needy, or Velcro, but for a breed stereotyped for being big and bad, they're actually just sweet, little babies who *need* to be with us at all times. Zara, the rescue pup, is one of these Pitties, and when Mom's in the bathroom, she morphs into a polite human toddler who knows how to use her manners!

To barge in on Mom in the bathroom is one thing, but for Zara to use her paws to close the door is something else! She's not only adorable, but talented to boot. As a dog mom to a Pit Bull Terrier myself, I can 100% attest to their separation anxiety that leads them to find us in every room-even if it's only been a few seconds they've been left alone!

The video garnered a lot of other dog parents' praise, but also camaraderie. Apparently, there are a lot of pups in the world who like to let themselves into whatever room their parents are in, but only a select few know how to close the door behind them. I see some kind of door-closing training course in Zara's future!
Being wherever Mom is has to be one of this sweet girl's favorite hobbies, because if she's not seeking Mom out in the bathroom, she takes the opportunity to snuggle up the second Mom hits the couch. Pitties really are some of the most affectionate dogs around, but they also like lots of attention!

How To Teach Your Dog To Close the Door Behind Them
There are a million videos teaching how to get your pup to close the door behind them, but the basics are simple. With positive reinforcement, you can get your willing pup to touch their nose or paw to a target on the door (a Post-It or something visual) to make it close, then reward them with a treat. Repeat many times until they get it, and boom-you have your very own polite pooch like Zara!
