A woman in Canada sat with a baby Moose on the side of the road so that he would be safe from cars.

In a TikTok video, the woman sat near the sweet baby animal to keep him safe until the Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) arrived to take care of him. In the video, the good Samaritan with the "biggest heart" had even taken off her shoes while she waited with him.

POV: you get a call from your mom and she says "drop everything and drive down the road". Little did you know, she'd be sitting beside a baby moose to make sure no one hits it until the MNR comes. Such an incredible experience but seeing any animal not well makes my stomach turn. Praying the MNR gets there before it's too late #ontario#canada#wildlife#moose

Sound of Calm - Cloudy Skies

The moose sat down quietly by her side and waited, while the woman said, "You wouldn't normally be this close" to the moose, but she wanted to make sure the baby was safe.

"POV: you get a call from your mom, and she says, 'drop everything and drive down the road,' " her daughter, who posted the footage, wrote in the caption. "Little did you know, she'd be sitting beside a baby Moose to make sure no one hits it until the MNR comes. Such an incredible experience but seeing any animal not well makes my stomach turn. What to do if you find a baby animal

There is a specific protocol people should follow when encountering wildlife, especially baby animals.

According to the Tufts Wildlife Clinic, the best thing to do is stay away from the baby and observe them from a distance. The clinic recommends this because "a young animal's best chance for surviving is with its parents."

While a young animal may look like it's been abandoned, its parents are often nearby. The clinic explained that an animal's mother may "limit the number of visits to the nesting area to prevent predators from discovering its location."

Then it's important to assess if their nest may be nearby where the baby animal is at the moment. Then, it's important to determine whether the animal has any injuries or if they're distressed. From there, it's important to call your local animal and wildlife services, who will help determine next steps.
