This Paint-Saving, Easy Cleanup Hack Is About to Blow Your Mind

I might be in the minority here, but I genuinely love painting a room. It's oddly soothing to me-the steady rhythm of the roller and the instant gratification of watching a wall transform is just part of it. Because it's also the way a single color can completely shift the mood of a space. Think about it: It's one of the easiest, most satisfying ways to give your home a glow-up without a full renovation.

What I don't love, though, is the waste. No matter how careful I try to be, I always end up with a frustrating puddle of paint sitting in the bottom of the tray-too much to ignore, but somehow impossible to pour neatly back into the can without making a mess. It dries, it gets tossed, and it feels like money (and perfectly good paint) going straight in the trash.

If you've ever stood there debating whether it's worth the hassle to save it, you're definitely not alone. But here's the good news: there actually is a simple hack that makes saving that leftover paint surprisingly easy, and way less messy than you'd think. Thanks to the below YouTube paint hack, I'll never have to waste the stuff again. And I can't believe I didn't know this sooner.

As Jeff from The Jeff and Lauren Show on YouTube illustrates, saving wall paint starts with a trash bag. Yes, folks, a simple trash bag.

Jeff covers the paint tray with that plastic garbage bag and pours in the paint he's about to use. When he's done, he rolls up said trash bag (leaving behind a clean paint tray, too) with the paint in it. Then, over the paint can, he snips off the bottom of the bag and squeezes the leftover paint back in. This is genius and I feel incredibly foolish for not thinking of it myself.

So go ahead-watch, learn and use these tips without a moment of your time wasted.
