Comedian Jim Jefferies sets summer date at Saroyan Theatre
If you have a Facebook feed, you have likely seen comedian Jim Jefferies. His three-plus minute bit on gun control was a viral sensation last year.
This summer, the Australian comedian is on the road with a new stand-up tour, “Jim Jefferies Live,” which stops Friday, July 29, at the Saroyan Theatre. Tickets for the show are $39.50 and are on sale Friday, April 8, at the box office, select Vallarta and Save Mart Supermarkets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000.
Along with stand-up, Jefferies created, wrote, produced, and starred in the critically acclaimed FX series “Legit,” which ran for two seasons in 2013 and 2014. His last stand-up special “Jim Jefferies: BARE” aired on Netflix and produced the aforementioned viral clip. The comedian is working on a second Netflix special, “Freedumb,” which will premiere later this year.

The Welsh trio The Joy Formidable returns to the Valley on its North American tour this summer. The alternative rock band plays Thursday, July 21, in support of its new album, “Hitch.” VIP tickets for the show are $59.50 and on sale now. General admission tickets are on sale Friday, April 8. The Joy Formidable played at Visalia’s Cellar Door in November. It was on of the few nonfestival dates the band played in 2015.
Philadelphia indie-rocker Kurt Vile will play the club Wednesday, Aug. 10, with his band the Violators. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, April 8. Tickets are $20.
Vile, who played in Fresno in 2013 at Audie’s Olympic Tavern, was part of the indie-band War on Drugs before embarking on a solo career that includes six studio albums. His latest, “b’lieve i'm goin down … ” was released in March on Matador Records.
