Central Section softball rankings: Central moves into top spot after winning Clovis Easter Classic

Central takes over the top spot in The Bee’s Central Section softball rankings, jumping over previous No. 1 Clovis.

Central beat Clovis in a head-to-head matchup Tuesday, rallying in the seventh inning for a 4-2 victory in the championship game of the Clovis Easter Classic.

Both teams return to Tri-River Athletic Conference play next week, with the Grizzlies first visiting No. 3 Buchanan on Tuesday, April 7, followed by a meeting with No. 8 Clovis West on Friday, April 10.

Central and Clovis are scheduled to meet again twice in TRAC play, on April 14 at Central and May 1 at Clovis.

The No. 2 Cougars — who had held the top spot in the rankings since the start of the season — next week have one TRAC game, at Clovis East on Tuesday, April 7, before heading to the NorCal Classic in Tracy for games Thursday through Saturday, April 9-11.
