Thursday’s highlights



Travis Turner

, a senior right-hander, pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven as Sanger defeated Madera South 6-0 in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.


Israel Uribe

, a three-year varsity player, fanned 11 in a five-hitter and drove in a run as Lindsey won 4-3 at home against a Woodlake team that entered as the East Sequoia League co-leader.


Payton True

earned the win,

Caysen Cuehlo

drove in three and Porterville scored five in the seventh to shock No. 3 Tulare Western 6-4 on the road in an EYL opener.



Renee Ortega

ripped a two-run home run in a 14-hit attack for The Bee’s section No. 15-ranked Liberty-Madera Ranchos in a 14-1 North Sequoia League defeat of Sierra.

Brielle Vidmar

pitched a seven-hitter,

Cayla Broussard

went 2 for 2 and stole career base No. 70, and

Cameryn Reichle

scored twice and drove in two runs as The Bee’s No. 2 Clovis improved to 21-3 with a 10-3 win over Ripon in the opening of the three-day NorCal Classic at Tracy. Clovis, competing in the event’s elite Platinum Division, will play Atwater at 11:30 a.m. Friday.



Nick Jaramishian

cruised in No. 1 singles and doubles to help defending section D-I champion and CMAC leader Bullard to a 9-0 win over Madera South. The Knights (15-2, 7-0) have three matches left before the CMAC individual tournament on April 23. The section team playoffs begin April 28.


• Returning All-Bee selection

Jose Gomez

had 20 kills, seven digs and three blocks to help Sanger improve to 20-3 overall and a CMAC-leading 2-0 with a 25-9, 25-9, 25-20 sweep of Edison.

• Roosevelt rallied after dropping the first two sets, riding 22 kills from

Aaron Her

to a 16-25, 24-26, 25-12, 15-11 win over Hoover as the Rough Riders moved to 2-0 in the NYL, tied with Fresno, which got 24 kills from

Adrian Reyes

in a 18-25, 25-18, 26-24, 22-25, 19-17 marathon win over Sunnyside.



Anissa Wilson

scored five goals and

Jurnee Fernandez

added four as Fresno Unified League-leading Hoover downed McLane 15-7.



Samantha Giannetta

(200 free, 100 free) and

Skyler Elkington

(50 free, 100 fly) each won two events for the girls, while

Preston Mayer

(200 IM, 100 fly) and

Matt Elkington

(100 free, 100 back) each won twice for the boys as Clovis West swept Buchanan in TRAC dual meets 109-77 (girls) and 115.5-67.5 (boys).
