- Qualifications: Set herself apart in the history of a storied program by accomplishing a feat unmatched by past greats such as Amanda Scott, Jamie Southern and Jennifer Reynolds by pitching a no-hitter in top-seeded Cougars’ 2-0 victory over No. 2 Central for the Central Section Division I championship. Scott and Reynolds did not win section titles as freshman, while Southern pitched a one-hitter as Clovis beat Exeter 2-0 for the title in 1997. Lung took over midseason as the primary pitcher and finished 21-1 with a 1.16 ERA, nine shutouts and 141 strikeouts in 1261/3 innings. She limited opponents to a .174 batting average and her .955 winning percentage was a single-season school record. Lung, who saw her velocity improve from the mid-50s to mid-60s over the course of the season under the tutelage of veteran pitching coach Mike Salazar, was selected first-team All-Tri-River Athletic Conference.
