The Bee's Winter All-Stars: Outstanding Offensive and Defensive girls soccer players, Coach of the Year and team

Outstanding Offensive Performer

Liberty-Madera Ranchos

She’s qualified because:

Produced a team-leading 18 goals and a second-best 12 assists as the Hawks went 19-4-2 while winning the Premier A bracket of the Garces Holiday Invitational, the North Sequoia League title, the Central Section Division III championship and making an appearance in the CIF Southern California Regionals. The four-year varsity performer was at her best when it counted, providing two assists in a 4-1 quarterfinals win over Caruthers, two goals in a 2-1 semifinal win over Mission Oak and her team’s first goal in a 2-1 victory against East Bakersfield in the section final. The NSL’s MVP, who also helped Liberty win a section title as a freshman, will attempt to walk on at Nevada.

Outstanding Defensive Performer

Clovis North

She’s qualified because:

Named the Tri-River Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season after helping the Broncos post seven shutouts in league play and 16 overall. Was the leader of a back line that allowed 18 goals in 27 games (an average of 0.67 per game) as Clovis North went 16-5-6 overall, won the Harold S. Young tournament title, finished second in the TRAC and lost a 1-0, triple-overtime thriller to Buchanan for the Central Section Division I championship. Third-year varsity player helped hold Buchanan’s Cal Poly-bound and two-time Bee Player of the Year Caitlyn Kreutz without a goal in three meetings this season. A student with a 4.37 grade-point average, Claypool plans to continue her education at Cal but won’t be playing soccer.

Coach of the Year

He’s qualified because:

Led the Spartans all the way to the CIF Southern California Regional Division IV final, where they held a 1-0 lead through 65 minutes before losing 3-1 to Maranatha-Pasadena. That ended a 23-3-1 season that saw Strathmore win the East Sequoia League and school’s first section Division IV title. Gonzalez’s teams have gone 115-33-8 over the past seven years, including sections titles in D-V in 2012 and D-VI in 2010.
