Jerry Tarkanian’s 5-year-old grandson suffers stroke

Jerry Tarkanian’s 5-year-old grandson suffered a stroke and was hospitalized Friday in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The young Jerry Tarkanian, the namesake grandson of the famed Fresno State and UNLV basketball coach, complained of pain in his legs and was taken to University Medical Center at 4 a.m. Friday.

The boy is undergoing testing, including a CT scan and MRI but is showing signs of improvement.

The family said the boy has never had health issues and is conscious and moving better since the stroke.

His parents are Danny and Amy Tarkanian, a political commentator and former Nevada GOP chairwoman. Grandmother Lois Tarkanian is a Las Vegas City Council member.

The elder Jerry Tarkanian, who led the 1990 UNLV team to a national title and finished his coaching career at Fresno State, died Feb. 11.
