Fresno State and Saint Mary’s have received a waiver from the NCAA to play an exhibition basketball game to aid Northern California communities hit hard by wildfires.
The game will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary’s in Moraga.
“We’re going to get a chance to really help a good cause,” Bulldogs coach Rodney Terry said when the exhibition was proposed.
All seating will be general admission and access to McKeon Pavilion will be granted with any donation to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund. Donations can be made at the door by cash or check or with a confirmation email from an online donation site.
Proceeds will go to North Bay Fire Relief via the Redwood Credit Union Community Fund Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Checks should be payable to RCU Community Fund and include “2017 North Bay Fire Relief” in the memo area and which county (or “all”) the donation is to support.
Food and clothing donations will be accepted in the lobby. Parking will be free, with doors to McKeon Pavilion opening at 7 p.m.
Saint Mary’s concessionaire Sodexo and merchandise concessionaire Gameday Souvenirs will donate 10 percent of their sales toward the relief fund.
Fresno State has exhibitions on Oct. 30 against Pacific Union and Nov. 3 against UC Merced at Save Mart Center and open its 2017-'18 season at home Nov. 10 against UC Santa Cruz.
