The Fresno State softball team started 2018 well, sweeping Sunday’s two games to finish the Kajikawa Classic at Arizona State with a winning record.

Sunday, the Bulldogs beat Purdue 13-4 and Notre Dame 5-4. Fresno State hit seven homers Sunday, the last by Katie Castellon to walk off with the win against Notre Dame after the Fighting Irish started the game with an early 4-0 lead.

Freshman Danielle East was the winning pitcher in all three Bulldogs wins, starting against Purdue and relieving to get out of a seventh-inning jam against Notre Dame. Saturday, East threw an eight-inning complete game as Fresno State beat Stanford 2-0.

The Bulldogs’ tournament losses were 13-1 to No. 7 Arizona on Saturday and 8-0 to No. 3 Oregon on Friday.

Fresno State comes home for its Bulldog Classic beginning Friday with games at 3:30 p.m. against Cal State-Bakersfield and 6 p.m. against UC Davis at Margie Wright Diamond. Pacific and Saint Mary’s also visit for the tournament.
