The road has been brutal to the Bulldogs, who have a 2-14 away record. Their most recent road woe was a 10-6 loss to a Cal Poly team that’s 15-18. With just over a month before the postseason, Fresno State’s starting pitching rotation continues to change almost weekly, including season-opening closer Jake Shull serving as the Friday night starter last weekend. The Bulldogs also have typically trotted out four to seven pitchers per game. Season-opening Friday starter Jimmy Lambert (2-0, 4.50 ERA) has logged the most innings at 50 while nine have at least 17. OF Taylor Tempel is batting a team-high .358. C Taylor Ward (.328) has seven home runs, which ranks fourth in the conference.
The Falcons are 8-1 at home, their loss comng against UNLV (15-20), the conference’s last-place team. Air Force had lost three straight before beating Northern Colorado 17-4 Tuesday. 3B Noah Pierce is batting .309 with seven HRs and 34 RBIs.
