Former Fresno State star Phillip Thomas signed with NFL’s Miami Dolphins on Monday.
Thomas joins Miami after spending the past two seasons with the Washington Redskins, who waived the safety Aug. 5 after selecting him in the fourth round in the 2013 draft but .
After spending his entire rookie season on injured reserve, Thomas began last season on the Redskins practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on Nov. 1, 2014. He has appeared in eight games in his career with four starts and recorded 26 tackles (18 solo) and one fumble recovery.
The Dolphins also signed free-agent running back Demitrius Bronson and waived safety Shamiel Gary and wide receiver Tyler McDonald.
