Visalia driver Richard Vander Weerd won Saturday’s U.S. Auto Club/California Racing Association 410 sprint car feature at Perris Auto Speedway.
Vander Weerd is 2 for 2 at the Southern California half-mile clay oval after winning the USAC/CRA season-opener in early March. He routinely campaigns with the USAC West Coast Sprint 360s in Northern California.
Saturday’s race was a co-feature with the World of Outlaws. Paul McMahan won that race. Jason Meyers of Clovis in the Fresno-based Gary Scelzi Motorsports car had the best passing night in the 17-car feature, advancing four spots to finish eighth. David Gravel of Connecticut in the Fresno-based Roth Motorsports car was ninth.
