COS pitcher unbeaten

College of Sequoia pitcher Thomas Dunehew stayed undefeated on the year, throwing six innings in a 5-2 win against West Hills Coalinga in Central Valley Conference action Thursday.

Dunehew (5-0) scattered six hits and one walk for two runs (both unearned) before the bullpen provided three hitless innings, including a perfect ninth from Blake Edmonson for his fifth save.

COS designated hitter Matt Cota batted 3 for 5 with two RBIs. Teammates Blake Edmondson and Corey Davis Jr. each scored twice.

The teams were tied 2-2 after one inning, then COS (17-15, 12-8) took the lead with a run in the fourth and scored again in the sixth and seventh. West Hill (7-24, 4-15) has dropped nine of its past 10 games.

• Reedley defeated Porterville 7-4.

Fresno cyclist 12th in Paris-Roubaix Juniors

Fresno cyclist Jack Maddux finished 12th in Sunday’s Paris-Roubaix Juniors, an 111-kilometer race across the bumpy cobblestones of northern France.

Representing Team USA, the 18-year-old Maddux finished in a group of 12 riders who were 33 seconds behind winner Bram Welten of The Netherlands.

Maddux, a senior at Clovis North High, won six races in Belgium last season and a stage in the Junior Tour of Ireland.
