Zak Taylor's bases-loaded walk in the top of the seventh inning helped Fresno City to a 4-2 victory over West Hills in a Central Valley Conference baseball game in Coalinga on Thursday.
Rams starter Jorge Alvarado improved to 4-0 after pitching 7 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and allowing both West Hills runs. Scott Roberts finished the game for his first save.
Fresno City (11-2, 5-0) and the Falcons (3-11, 0-5) will play at 3 p.m. Friday at John Euless Ballpark instead of Saturday because of possible rain.
• Josh Montelongo belted a three-run home run to left field in the third inning as Reedley defeated Taft 8-1.
Tigers starter McKay McNair pitched eight innings and had six strikeouts to pick up the win.
Reedley up its record to 5-9 and 2-3 in the CVC. Taft fell to 10-4 and 3-2.
• COS lost 10-2 at Merced, falling to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in CVC play. The teams will finish the series at 1 p.m. Saturday in Visalia.
Kory Brock-Jones had two triples and three RBIs, and Aubrey Blankenburg also drove in three runs in Fresno City's 12-0 victory over Modesto in a nonconference game.
Sarah Santana pitched four innings and had three strikeouts for the Rams (2-10).
The Pirates dropped to 5-8.
• With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Janee Ortega drove in the winning run with a two-run double that lifted Reedley to a 12-11 win against Delta.
The Tigers scored all but one of their runs from the fifth inning and on. Reedley's Jennie Mendelin homered and finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
