We all know Mother’s Day can elicit various emotions. My father lost his mother as a teenager and my mother lost her mother as a young woman just starting her family. I was lucky enough to have my own mother to my adulthood.
I have adult children. My two boys are in the U.S. Navy and serving in Washington, D.C. My daughter is working hard to make a go of a California vineyard in this time of drought. I am retired and have enough to get by. I live a small life ... riding bikes, donating to Valley Children’s and the local blood bank.
On Mother’s Day, I met friends and went for a bike ride. Upon return, I found that my car had been invaded, my purse and wallet stolen. In addition, my garage door opener was gone and my garage burglarized. Fresno Police Department responded to the garage burglary. The officers were not only efficient but kind. They spoke to me as a mother, and I was relieved that they were there for me.
To the thieves, remember what the Dalai Lama said: “Just try to be a good person. That’s enough.”
