Quoting from a letter to the editor published on May 3, dealing with artificial intelligence:
“A most ominous concern is that programmed machines capable of spreading lethal viruses and total destruction may self-replicate or bypass instructions, regardless of established ‘controls.’ In that case, all moral and ethical considerations or constraints will be terminated. ... The exponential increase in AI capacity continues unabated as the potential for catastrophic errors or sabotage increases.”
I was left wondering if this was in regard to the political machines of Congress or referring specifically to the upcoming 2016 presidential elections.
