Kudos to the promoters of Fresno’s Catacomb Party April 4 in downtown Fresno.
My family and I had great fun at this event held on the Fulton Mall. I was so impressed with the breadth of bands that spanned the day from noon to midnight, of which I attended from 2-9 p.m.
I was doubly impressed that it was all free. How great to have so many fine bands perform at a free festival. Bravo to Craig Scharton and Peeve’s Public House for spearheading the revitalization of downtown by supporting such cool, interesting and fun events.
My suggestion for the future, is to have these events more often, as it appeared the downtown vendors benefited greatly from the crowds present. In addition, I was surprised to see that once it became dark, as many as one in three lights was not working, creating many areas that were dark and shadowy.

It would seem to be a no-brainer to have all lights working and bring in auxiliary lights for the main areas. I was glad to see a police presence at nightfall, but this kind of event would lend itself perfectly to officers on bikes.
