Could someone help Mayor Ashley Swearengin down from her Ivory Tower where she apparently perches when she makes decisions on development and transportation issues for Fresno?
Here is Smart & Final, ready to go ahead with a project to revitalize a blighted corner on Blackstone Avenue, and the mayor to put restrictions on it.
Put the store fronts near the street for pedestrian traffic! What pedestrian traffic?
No matter what kind of bus system she may dream up, people are not going to ride up and down Blackstone Avenue and get on and off a bus to go shopping.
Fresno always has been and always will be a car town. People want to drive into a nice big parking lot, park for free (hello, downtown!), and go on with their business.
No matter what her vision might be or how she interprets the general plan, it’s time for some flexibility here to get this done.
By the way, I’m available if she wants to hire someone for her staff who can give some realistic advice.
