After reading the article “Dave & Buster’s headed to Fresno,” I found myself more than just a little angry.
I purchased my home in the area adjacent to what has been called the “Fresno 40” more than 20 years ago. After doing my due diligence, I learned that property was planned for offices, nice apartments and perhaps a few small restaurants. Since offices and small commercial establishments usually close about 5-6 p.m., the only drawback seemed to be increasing traffic.
Very quietly, it seems, things are gradually being permitted that are not appropriate for this area. Sadly, nobody seems to care. Certainly not the councilman who represents this area, or some notice would have been given to the local property owners.
We do not need to have a bar catering primarily to drinking-age kids in this neighborhood. It is really true, you just can’t fight city hall.
