The behavioral problems described in the article about Fort Miller Middle School (Feb. 19) were intriguing for what wasn’t said.
There was no mention of the procreators who are sending their little barbarians to class, only to disrupt, break the law and bully their way through school. Is “parenting” a term to only be used in the past tense? Yet, the procreators and their offspring are the first ones to cry foul when they receive any type of negative consequences for their actions.
The schools cannot assume the responsibilities the procreators have abrogated and left to the system. The whole farcical construct of “political correctness” needs to be abandoned and, apparently, military-type boot camps need to be the replacement, until civility can be restored to those who cannot coexist in a rational environment.
These behaviors exhibited in the schools by the attendees are being passed off with often relatively benign diagnoses (such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, etc.) and simply create nothing more than a plethora of sorry excuses for pure thuggish behavior.
These same mini-thugs will soon be seen and heard from in a different context; i.e. images in this newspaper for murder, armed robbery and rape because we have chosen not to offend or hurt self-esteem.
