There is an element in Washington which is intent on waging war on Russia.
These people began by subverting the democratically elected government of Ukraine and supporting its violent overthrow. At that point, the people of Crimea (who were forcibly annexed to Ukraine by the Soviet Union under Khrushchev in 1954) voted overwhelmingly to secede and once again become part of Russia. The U.S. and its NATO allies retaliated by waging economic war on Russia with sanctions that have exacerbated the austerity imposed by international bankers on European member nations.
The Russian-speaking provinces of eastern Ukraine have also declared their independence from the U.S.-supported Kiev regime. The German intelligence service reports that about 50,000 lives have been lost in the civil conflict. Most casualties are caused by the Ukrainian military’s shelling of vulnerable civilian areas in the rebel-held cities.
Now, our government wants to escalate the carnage by inserting more sophisticated weapons into the conflict while playing the blame game against Russia, which is pressing for a non-violent resolution.
Next, I fully expect a demand for boots on the ground and a U.S. missile attack on Moscow.
