More water storage? Some are now clamoring for it, but is this really a good idea?
Our state is already home to one out of every eight Americans plus many undocumented immigrants, too. More water means more development, more people, more traffic and demand for new and wider roads, more pollution, and generally, more crowds everywhere.
This has already led to less farmland and open spaces. Our benevolent climate, proximity to the coast, beautiful scenery amidst varying landscapes, and great recreational activities will always convince plenty of new residents to come here — not just from the U.S. but the rest of the world, too.
What’s the goal: 15%, 20% or 25% of the nation’s population within our borders? More available water, is this really a good idea? Be careful what you wish for!
