It appears Fresno finally has a mayor who can make the tough and sometimes unpopular decisions that need to be made in spite of certain council members who insist on grandstanding for future political gain.
It's never easy, and certainly not fun, to have to lay people off or temporarily close service facilities. Sometimes these choices must be made to move forward.
Until there is a better plan to achieve the goals the mayor is trying to achieve, council members should offer their full support rather than threaten a veto that does not have the votes and will only waste more time and money.
