It's no 'blood sport'

Christine Arbuckle [story July 19] should learn more about mixed-martial arts. MMA is a fast-growing, highly technical, organized sport, not the old boxing or wrestling arena or a "blood" sport.

There are fewer injuries in MMA than boxing, wrestling or football. A person losing only has to "tap out" or submit before suffering an injury.

Young people have found that MMA builds self-confidence, pride, as well as defense skills. Some top MMA fighters are past or current military people and support our troops.

Would she oppose judo or karate? MMA is just a mixture of all martial arts, as the name implies.
