I'm a student pilot training for my private pilot's license. Before I embarked on this challenge I always heard from friends who are pilots that Fresno was a bad place to fly through because some Fresno air traffic controllers were rude.
In recent flights I have found myself needing to use Fresno ATC in order to get in and out of the area. I have to say the local controllers can be rude and do not always follow the Federal Aviation Administration guidelines when it comes to aviation communications. This has made it most difficult in trying to learn how to speak properly and efficiently when the local controllers don't play by the same rules as everyone else.
Don't get me wrong: Without them a lot of us might get lost, but it would help us students if they followed the same rules that we are trying to learn by.
