'A death sentence'

If you talk about immigration reform you must understand the plight of illegal immigrants. They are the poorest of Mexico's poor. They must find work or die. They cross the border illegally because they can't afford the legalization fees.

They are branded criminals and treated as such. Sending them back to Mexico would be a death sentence since they haven't been able to find work there. Since when do we as a civilized nation sentence people to death for being poor?
