No need for dams

Mayor Alan Autry was in Sacramento boosting dams and more water. The use of double water meters (fresh and used) will pay for itself, decrease water demand and reduce the cost of moving water.

We have had a fresh water meter since 1989. Despite federal and state mandates, the city refuses to charge a metered rate because "We wouldn't know what to charge." Flat rates encourage waste and low efficiency.

The era of dam-building is long over. "Surplus" water can be stored in the ground at minimal cost and without evaporation losses.
