Contrary to The Bee’s Sept. 28 article, it is the Kings River Conservation District, not the San Joaquin Valley Power Authority, that has filed an application to start a 15-month permitting process with the California Energy Commission for the proposed Community Power Plant.
This process guarantees the right of the public to participate in open discussion about the proposed power plant. The Energy Commission will hold more than a dozen hearings and workshops to receive input from the public.
As a local resource agency, KRCD is committed to an open and responsive public process. As a local owner and operator of power plants, KRCD is confident that this plant can be permitted in a manner that protects our Valley’s water, power and environmental resources.
