Wow! I hope that many other readers shook their heads in disbelief as they opened Saturday's Bee (Sept. 29). The full-color front-page cover story which occupied the vast majority of the cover was entitled, "Timeout Tizzy: Fresno State's new design for the Bulldogs mascot has some Red Wavers losing their heads."
Flanked by this headline story were two obviously less newsworthy stories of apparently less value to Bee readers -- "Brain-eating amoeba deadly" and "Kid's health care in limbo."
I wonder, is this a misperception of what Fresnans find important, or a blatantly accurate reflection of what Fresnans value? I have a hunch, and it scares me.
