I would like to thank Dale Baird [letter Sept. 19] for the heartwarming words of appreciation for the care given to his granddaughter in our emergency room at Children's Hospital Central California.
Yes, our job is difficult, but expressions of gratitude like those of Mr. Baird's can make what might have been a terrible day for that nurse the best shift she's had in a long time.
Not only did his words uplift every one of us in the ER, they are a great recruiting tool. Nothing compares to the rewards that appreciation and trust from a child and her family can bring. I wouldn't be surprised if his kind words inspired some people to join the nursing profession. They certainly reminded me of how proud I am to be a nurse and a part of the team at Children's ER.
