Could there have been better timing for Golf magazine's September listing of the Top 100 golf courses in the U.S. and world? Donald Trump owns two, and he built them both -- Trump National (No. 54) and Trump International (No. 71). Even his course in Los Angeles, though not cracking the top 100, is thought by many to be superior to Pebble Beach and Bandon Dunes in Oregon.
Now I'm not saying that "Trump Fresno" would be a world-class golf course. But it would certainly be better than a trench, a couple of weed-infested fairways, incomplete houses, bankruptcy and a possibility of yet one more "interested party" to complete the project.
Would any party have the vision, resources and success of Donald Trump? Probably not.
This is what Fresno is missing. Par for the course.
