'The same rules'

Re Joseph Gentry's "good laugh" because he was cited while riding his bicycle on a city street [letter May 1]. What's really funny is his lack of knowledge when it comes to the rules of the road.

Before he criticizes law enforcement for doing the job we pay them so little to do, he should pick up a California Vehicle Code book and educate himself. It clearly states that a bicyclist is subject to the same rules and regulations as a motorist while riding on a public roadway. That includes failing to stop at a stop sign.

We have laws for a reason. We don't get to pick and choose which ones to follow.
