'See past skin color'

The other day, as I was riding the city public bus, I was a witness to an event that caused me a great disillusion and sadness. I was one of the witnesses to a verbal altercation between two ladies. The problem started because of a look or a simple comment, I am not really sure.

What was upsetting was the fact that the unspoken problem that set these ladies off was about the racial differences. I am sad that some of us still cannot allow ourselves to see past skin color. If we are all riding the same bus, what difference does it make what pigmentation of skin we have?

We need to start moving on and let the racial differences fade. Tolerance is the word that we need to learn in order to make our communities better places for everyone. Let us begin today and make the "differences" disappear.
