Letters to the Editor

'Printing our story'

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the editorial about the Armenian Genocide on April 24. This meant a lot to me as well as other Armenians in Fresno.

There is no Armenian in the world who has not, in one way or another, directly or indirectly been affected by the event. The Turks think that in time we will forget and the issue will go away; however, they are completely mistaken. In fact, time simply helps people to remember and collectively bring the facts together. Perhaps one person can fabricate a story, but not a whole nation.

We now have three to four generations of Armenians who, through commemorating and remembering those who perished at the hands of the Turks, substantiate the facts. Only when the Turks own up to the part they took in committing the genocide will the souls of those who perished really rest. We want to thank you again for printing our story.
