Although President Bush proclaims "no child left behind," he vetoes funding for the small rural schools (story April 25) and communities with the veto of long-term logging money.
He has no problems spending billions of dollars "winning" the war in Iraq, no problems giving tax cuts to the wealthiest in the nation, no problems giving his buddies like Halliburton great deals, but he wants the schools and states to figure out how they're going to educate the children.
All he wants to do is test, test, test. Forget the fact that the children of today are obese, the schools don't have the money for P.E. classes, they don't have money for any non-crucial teachers. All they have time for is to teach test-taking.
